Making a difference
Advocacy provides support and representation for clients aged 65 and over.
Who we support
- People over 65 years of age who are referred by Adult Health & Community Services or Primary Care Trusts
We provide two services for older people:
Advocacy
This involves acting or speaking on behalf of clients and representing their views to agencies such as:
- Local authority housing departments
- Housing associations
- Residential care homes
- Sheltered housing
- Benefits agency
- Hospitals
- NHS Trusts
- GP surgeries
Appointeeship
This involves handling clients’ benefits, bill payments and debts. Appointee services may be required when an older person:
- Moves into sheltered housing
- Moves into residential care
- Falls into debt, e.g. with rent or utility bills, due to fluctuating capacity
- Is vulnerable to abuse or exploitation by others
We work in partnership with our clients to support them to voice their opinions, secure their rights, represent their interests and obtain the services they need.
Our services are:
