Help us to empower people to live fulfilling lives

Independent Advocacy is a registered charity, providing a voice to people who, perhaps due to frailty, disability or financial or social circumstances, need support to make choices.

Our work empowers vulnerable through a people asset based, community development approach, to reduce isolation and improve their self-esteem, building networks and friendships in the local community to live a fulfilled life. We believe that we are stronger together and love working with like- minded people and organisations to bring about change.

Our 10 trained and qualified advocates and appointees specialise in the areas of learning disabilities, mental health and older people. We currently support 456 people throughout Warwickshire and Solihull.

We have four key areas of work:

  • Community Innovation and Learning- creating kinder communities by bringing people together to solve problems
  • Advice and Information- Confidential and impartial advice face to face, online and via telephone
  • Advocacy and Influence- Enabling people to exercise their rights and make informed decisions
  • Financial Advocacy and Community Support- looking after the benefits and pension for those unable to do it themselves

One third of our work is dependent on grants and donations. There are many ways you can help us – from a donation or gift in a will, to fundraising, volunteering, or corporate support.

As a small, local charity, money and resources limit us and it’s thanks to each and every person who fundraises for us or supports our charity and events, that we are able to offer so many opportunities, and help people to lead fulfilled lives.

How can you help? - There are so many ways!

Donate – every penny helps!
Challenge yourself – walk, run, do a skydive – and do it for us!
Hold an event – from a garage sale to a coffee morning!

Projects you could support

£25 could pay for an advice session for a vulnerable person

£100 could pay for a volunteer to be trained as a digital champion to isolated people to get online

£1,000 could pay for the development of five community accreditation ‘badges’ for people with low level skills

Or why not set up a direct debit to support our work.

Just £5.00 a month would make a difference to someone’s life, and help us do more with the people we support.

You will be making a very real difference to local lives.
