Role Title: Advocacy Hub Manager

Reporting to: Operational Manager

Salary Scale: Tier 4

Role Overview:

To manage the full range of advocacy services ensuring that professional standards are set and delivered. To identify and develop new business opportunities through active engagement with clients and service users.

Qualification:

it is essential that you have a Level 4 Certificate in Independent Advocacy Practice.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

To set high personal standards and manage the advocacy staff, sessional workers and volunteers

● To set performance targets for all service areas, monitor performance, resolve problems and report on a regular basis.

● To develop service user involvement and integrate this into our business systems

● To monitor the financial performance of the services and operate within budget

● To maintain a network of professional contacts and act as a representative and advocate for Independent Advocacy

● To encourage innovation in developing our services and in our methods of delivery

● To support and deputise for the Chief Executive as necessary

● To carry a relevant caseload agreed with the line manager

Team/Line Management
● To line manage the team staff and assign workload.

● To set clear objectives, tasks and performance targets for the Team in conjunction with the Operations Manager.

● To monitor outcomes and outputs of the team for quality and effectiveness.

● To provide pastoral support and supervision through regular one-to-one, Team Meetings and annual appraisals for staff directly line managed under the role.

● To ensure all staff line managed are aware of their duties in relation to safeguarding and receive relevant training and guidance on raising and reporting concerns.

● To ensure that all staff within the team are receiving adequate support and supervision and that one-to-ones and appraisals identify performance issues and training needs for inclusion in the organisational training plan.

● To assist in recruiting Team Members and ensure recruitment is carried out in line with the organisation’s recruitment and equality of opportunity policies.

Performance Management
● To recognise good performance and identify poor performance ensuring that issues are addressed that may impact adversely on the performance of the team.

● To monitor quantitative and qualitative service outcomes by working closely with internal colleagues.

● Provide performance information and reports on the delivery of the Organisation’s Hubs for the Operations Manager.

Communication
To ensure effective communication within the hubs and contribute to effective communication across the organisation.

Diversity Policies and Equality legislation in undertaking the duties of the post.

Health and Safety
To comply at all times with health and safety policies and promptly raise any health and safety concerns to the Operational Manager.

To comply with the Organisation’s policies relating to confidentiality and data protection at all times.

Any other duties that are consistent with the aims and objectives of the post.

Qualification

It is essential that you have a Level 4 Certificate in Independent Advocacy Practice E

A demonstrable understanding of quality systems and processes E

Knowledge of relevant frameworks relating to quality practice E

A good understanding of case management and associated systems E

Experience

Track record of successfully managing high performing teams

Specific experience of delivering advice and advocacy to Specialist Quality Mark or other quality standard.

Experience of day to day casework support and supervision.

Experience of working with people with multiple and complex needs.

Experience of working within a risk management framework.

Knowledge of the legal framework for mental health and general advocacy support E

Skills and Attributes

A commitment to the IA core values – respect, integrity, professionalism, and inclusiveness.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels (both orally and in writing).

Knowledge of relevant practice in relation to safeguarding vulnerable groups, including children.

Committed to own professional development.

Full driving licence and access to own transport

IT literate including Case Management systems.
